How to turn off or modify the camera sound on an iPhone

Most iPhone users now take photos automatically, which is especially impressive given that the iPhone boasts some of the best mobile phone cameras on the market. Although each iPhone webcam is preceded by a shutter button that tries to play whenever you snap a picture, mobile phone cams, like standalone cameras, can be loud.

But occasionally that sound is both superfluous and unwelcome. If you're in a crowd or crowded space, you might want to snap your shots quietly. You can turn off the iPhone tone in most countries.

How to disable the iPhone's Live Photos camera sound

You can shoot a Live Photo, which is a picture that is a brief mini-video with audio, if you don't want to put your iPhone in Silent mode but still want to disable the shutter noise.

How to capture a live photo on an iPhone is as follows:

1. Open the iPhone camera app.

2. Look at the top of the screen's concentric rings. The Live Photos feature is active if they are yellow. However, if they are white with a slash across them, it is not enabled; tap those white circles to make it active.

3. When you press the shutter button, you'll see that the camera won't make the shutter sound but will still snap a photo.

If you want to keep the camera sound but make it quieter, you can use the volume buttons on the side of the device when taking a picture to adjust the volume level.

On some specific model like iPhone 12, You can also change the sound of the camera by going to the settings->camera->Shutter Sound Options.
